Corry Wrestling hosted a assembly match against the Union City Bears on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM. With the entire gym pack with the student body, the Beavers put on quite the performance on the mat with a convincing 54-11 win over the Bears.
The dual started at 121 with Logan Willis. He set the tone with a pin. We won the next 7 matches and built a 54-0 lead. Carson Braswell (133 pounds) and Marcus Meredith (139) each won by major decision Will Allen (145) won by technical fall, Cody Proper (152) won by decision, Lamech Albers (172) won by technical fall, Mason Savitz won by decision.
"It was nice to finally get on the mat! With it being a assemble match it was a packed house and the student body brought the energy. I was really happy with how the team did. Between missing practice most of last week and the pressure of competing in front of your entire school. I felt the boys handled the adversity well. Union City is a much improved team from a year ago and for us to be able to win so convincing was great. The team has been working really hard in the practice room and it showed. " Said head coach Travis Proper.
Corry Starts out strong on the year at 1-0 and will be wrestling this weekend at the Penn Cambria Classic were 52 teams will be competing.
