Corry, PA - After three straight weeks on the road, the Corry varsity football team finally returned home for their first home game of the season Friday night against the Girard Yellow Jackets. Coming off of a tough loss at Fort LeBoeuf, the Beavers looked to rebound against a 3-0 Girard team in a crucial region matchup.  Despite a slow start on offense, the Beaver’s defense held firm and allowed the offense to find their groove enroute to a comfortable 40-7 Corry win. The Beavers are now 3-1 on the season.

The first quarter was slow offensively for both teams. After a three and out drive to start the game, the Beaver’s offense responded with the lone score of the quarter off of an eight yard touchdown pass from Lucas Baker to Keaton Frisina. The quarter ended with the Beavers up 7-0

Girard answered back in the second quarter with their only score of the night. A 30 yard deep pass into the end zone from Girard quarterback Ryan St. Julian to Nick Zona tied the game at 7-7. The Beavers responded with a big touchdown pass of their own as Baker hit Frisina on a little comeback route that went for 54 yards and gave the Beavers a 13-7 lead. Corry would score one more time late in the quarter off of a 13 yard pass to Jack Vanchieri and added a successful two point conversation to give the Beavers a 21-7 lead at the half.

The lone score in the third quarter came from Corry. A 16 yard pass to Keaton Frisina for his third score of the game gave the Beavers a 28-7 lead headed into the fourth.

Lamech Albers scored the Beavers lone rushing touchdown during the fourth quarter with a one yard run. The final score of the night occurred on defense from a pick six ran back 54 yards by Jack Vanchieri. The game concluded with a 40-7 Beavers win.

Baker went 13 of 20 in passing attempts on the day. He threw for 228 yards, rushed for 11 yards, and four touchdowns.

Lamech Albers rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Deion Canady rushed for 18 yards on six carries.

Keaton Frisina had 89 receiving yards and three touchdowns on four receptions. Blake Cook had 47 receiving yards on two receptions. Marcus Meredith had 38 yards on two receptions. Lamech Albers had 34 yards on one reception. Jack Venchieri had 25 yards and a touchdown on three receptions.

The Beavers head back on the road Friday for a rivalry non-region matchup at General McClane. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM. The DeeJ Experience Sports Stream will bring you live coverage with the Pregame starting at 6:30 PM. www.deejexperience.com
