Corry, PA- The Corry varsity football team returned home Friday evening to take on the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers in a thrilling homecoming showdown.  It was a high scoring, back and forth affair that went all the way to overtime. In the end, the Beavers came out on top with a walk off touchdown to win the game 37-34. They are now 4-2 on the season.

Corry kicked off the scoring in the first quarter with an 18 yard pass to Marcus Meredith that gave the Beavers an early lead (6-0). Prep responded immediately on the ensuing kickoff with a 92 yard touchdown return from Vinnie Feliciano (6-7). A 15 yard run from Lamech Albers and a successful two point try gave the Beavers the lead back soon after (14-7). The Lakers once again responded with a 56 yard run from Feliciano to tie the game (14-14).

The lone score in the second quarter came off of a 56 yard bomb to Blake Cook. That gave Corry the lead at halftime 20-14. Corry was knocking on the door from inside the five but could not punch it into the endzone as the Lakers stopped them on fourth and goal from the four yard line.

The Beaver’s defense started first in overtime. They clamped down and held the Lakers to a field goal (34-37). On offense, it only took Corry two plays to find the end zone with an eight yard pass to Keaton Frisina for the walk off win 37-34.
