Corry, PA- The Corry varsity football team returned home to Sheen Field on Friday evening for a region matchup against the Fairview Tigers. Coming off a home win over North East the previous week, the Beavers looked to stay hot and secure their third straight win to keep pace with the top of the region. A strong defensive effort and a steady offense from the Beavers kept the Tigers out of the endzone the entire game as Corry went on to a 28-3 win. They now sit at 6-2 on the season.

Before the game, the seniors on the football team, cheerleading squad, and marching band were honored for their years of dedication to their respective programs. This was capped off post game with one final walk across the football field as friends and family cheered them on.

Senior Night Recognition.

Corry struck first on their first drive of the game. A ten yard pass from Lucas Baker to Blake Cook was the lone score for either team in the first quarter. After a quick defensive stop, the Beaver’s offense crossed the 50 on their next drive, but stalled out for a turnover on downs which ended the quarter with the Beavers up 6-0.

Fairview started the second quarter with a missed field goal. Corry then expanded their lead with a four yard passing touchdown from Baker to Conner Sterling. The two point conversation was successful on a three yard run from Lamech Albers to make the score 14-0. The Tigers offense once again failed to respond and the Beavers held the two score lead into halftime.

The Tigers drew first blood in the second half with their only score of the night. Their offense pushed inside the red zone but the Beavers defense held firm and kept them from finding the endzone. A 33 yard field goal by Daniel Lindenberger cut the Beavers lead to 14-3. Corry would respond with their third touchdown of the game. A four yard pass play by Jack Vanchieri to Marcus Meredith and a successful PAT kick from Gavin Kent made the score

21-3.

Fairview started the fourth quarter driving on the Beavers end of the field until an interception by Gavin Greer gave Corry the ball back. The Beavers used the turnover cross the plain for the final time of the game on a five yard run from Sterling. Another successful PAT from Kent gave the Beavers the 28-3 lead. The Tigers made one final push into the red zone, but time expired and the Beavers came away with the 28-3 win.

Baker went eight for ten in pass attempts. He threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Vanchieri went two for four in pass attempts. He threw for 11 yards and a touchdown.

Vanchieri led in rushing. He rushed for 53 yards on six attempts. Lamech Albers rushed for 44 yards on six attempts. Marcus Meredith rushed for 24 yards on three attempts. Deion Canady rushed for 19 yards on five attempts. Conner Sterling rushed for 12 yards and a touchdown on four attempts.
