Report from Kelly Goodsel
Head Coach Corry Volleyball
Date: August 29, 2025
Location: Fort LeBoeuf High School
The Corry volleyball team won the annual Fort LeBeouf tournament on Saturday. The 16-teamtournament started with four, four-team pools, then based on pool play finish, the teams were re-pooled (all first place teams in one pool, all second place teams in a second pool, etc. etc.). Once the second pools concluded, teams were seeded for a bracketed playoff.
Corry went undefeated in the first pool and was re-pooled with the other pool winners (Fort
LeBoeuf, Neshannock, and Warren). The second pool was more competitive with Corry beating Neshannock, and splitting with Warren and Fort LeBoeuf.
Despite Corry dropping two sets, the lady beavers were seeded first in the playoffs due to head-to-head scores (Warren was seeded second, FLB third, and Neshannock fourth).
The first round of playoffs saw the only upsets, with 12th seeded Union City beating 5th seeded North East and 9th seeded Fairview beating 8th seeded Titusville. Corry beat Fairview in the quarterfinals, beat District 7 Neshannock in the semifinals, and beat Warren in the finals.
Coach Goodsel had the following comments on the tournament. “I was pleased with the way we played all day, with the exception of the first game against Warren (we didn’t serve particularly well) and the first game against Fort LeBoeuf (where our serve receive broke down and we gave up 5 or 6 points in a row). Tournaments present a great mental and physical challenge, facing seven different teams and playing 15 games really tests the players ability to focus, adjust to new game plans, and perform over an extended period of time.”
Corry will have plenty of time to work on things and get ready for their next match. The lady Beavers will host the Cochranton Cardinals in the Beaver Dam on Thursday September 4th with JV starting at 6:00 PM and Varsity to follow. If you can't make it to the game, DeeJ Experience will have the coverage live on the DeeJ Experience Sports Stream at www.deejexperience.com as well as YouTube and the TV Streaming apps.
