Volleyball season is set for an explosive beginning this year as four of the top teams in the state are set to collide at Slippery Rock University on Saturday August 29th!

The 2026 volleyball season will start off with a bang! Four of the state’s top high school volleyball teams will open the 2026 women’s season ­ at the D7 vs D10 Showdown on August 29th at Slippery Rock University.

The match schedule has been announced:

~ 11:00am Corry vs Oakland Catholic

~ 1:00pm Cathedral Prep vs. Avonworth

~ 3:10pm Cathedral Prep vs Oakland Catholic

~ 5:10pm Corry vs Avonworth

The Avonworth Lopes coached by John Skarupa won the PIAA State AA Title in 2025.

The Cathedral Prep Ramblers coached by Hannah Devine finished 9th in the PIAA State AA title in 2025 and in 2024 finished 3rd in the state. The Corry Beavers coached by Kelly Goodsel finished 3rd in 2025, losing to Avonworth in the state semi-finals and finished runner-up in the PIAA State finals to Trinity in 2024. The Oakland Catholic Eagles coached by Jenna Potts finished 2nd in PIAA State AAAA match in 2025 losing to Pope John Paul in the finals.

In 2025, Avonworth, Cathedral Prep, and Corry were all in the AA classification. The state of

Pennsylvania changed to six classifications in 2026 and with the re-alignment, Avonworth vs

Cathedral Prep could be a AAA classification state playoff preview, and the Corry vs. Oakland Catholic could be a AAAA potential playoff match.

This exciting day of volleyball will be streamed live, and exclusively by the DeeJ Experience Sports Stream. "I was excited when coach Goodsel approached me with the idea." DeeJ Experience Productions owner Scott Lockwood Said. "We are always looking to support our sports programs and our communities. This is a way to really help all the teams involved play some really good competition right out of the gate and at the same time, partner with the booster clubs to keep the financial burden off of the clubs. We are proud to be sponsoring this awesome showdown as well as provide the exclusive live stream for the event."

"The sponsorship of the event is a way for us to keep giving back." Lockwood said. "Everyone who sponsors the streaming of this awesome event will get their business if front of a lot of eyeballs with a commercial or ad. So not only is it good advertisement for your brand, but it is helping cover things like the rental of the facility at Slippery Rock University. We've also made it clear that 10 percent of those sales will go back to the booster clubs once the dust settles and the expenses are paid. It's really a win - win for everyone involved."
