Corry's 8th grade girls' basketball team traveled to Titusville for their 3rd game this week and 7th overall on Friday as the Beavers were able to knock off the Rockets 31-10.
The girls started off strong by applying ball pressure early in quarter one. They were able to capitalize in transition with buckets by Ava West, Maci Kemp, Liv Swan, and Mikayla Comitz to go up 11-1.
Corry's offense cooled off in the second by only scoring 2 buckets by Ava and Liv. However, Corry's defense continued to be strong and held Titusville to 1 point in the second to head into halftime with a 15-2 lead.
In the third, Corry's offense heated up with buckets by Ava, Mikayla, Liv, and Delaney Church. Starting the 4th with a 24-6 lead, Corry was able to continue sharing the ball and generate offense with Ava, Maci, and Emma Kight scoring for the Beavers. The Beavers eventually won with a final score of 31-10.
The girls came out strong right out of the gate and made things difficult for Titusville. I really liked our balanced scoring with Ava scoring 10 pts, Maci with 7 pts, Liv with 6, Mikayla with 4 pts, and Delaney and Emma with 2 pts each. It was also nice to see 7th graders Cate Moore and Ellie Harvey see some 8th grade action. Both girls came out and played well.
Other notable stats include:
Ava West-7 rebounds, 1 assist, 8 steals, 2 blocks
Mikayla Comitz-4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal
Maci Kemp-4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal
Liv Swan-4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals
Jordyn Watrous-2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal
Delaney Church-2 rebounds, 1 steal
Emma Kight-2 rebounds, 2 steals
Ellie Harvey-1 rebound
Cate Moore-1 rebound
