Corry Boys Basketball Coach
The Cambridge Springs Blue Devils came into the Beaver Dam to face off against the Corry Beavers on Tuesday Night. Corry would end up initiating a running clock about mid way through the third quarter and picked up a big 52-18 win over the Blue Devils.
The Beavers came out on defense with a ton of energy, but a little slow to start offensively. After the first quarter the beavers were up 14 to 9, but then outscored the blue devils in the second stanza 18-2 for a commanding 32-11 halftime lead. After halftime Corry never looked back, winning by a score of 52-18. All 13 available players got playing time and nine of them got into the scoring column.Â
Leading the way in the scoring category was Landon Deane with 18 points & Kamdyn Moon was right behind him with 16 points. The team was more efficient inside the arc after a poor showing at Cochranton, specifically inside the paint. Corry shot 60% from inside the three point line, which is right where we would like to stay. Moon had four three point field goals, and Deane had Two for the Beavers.Â
Karson Chamberlin led the defensive attack early, getting his hands on the ball often and coming away with four steals on the night. Corry had the Blue Devils in a tizzy in the front court, and came up with a lot of steals to help get out and score easily in transition. Everyone on the court played without any hesitation on defense Tuesday Night, which was great to see what they can do at full speed. Keaton Frisina also made his presence known on the defensive side of the ball once again with several deflections and steals. The defense we played last night was right up his alley. Ricketts helped us out in the middle of our defense with four steals.Â
Player of the game Karson Chamberlin, filled up the stat sheet once again with six points, four steals, eight assists, and a huge effort defensively running up and down the court giving our team a lot of energy like he always does.Â
"One of our focal points tonight was ball control, and limiting our turnovers. We did a better job limiting our turnovers, but we still had silly turnovers at times. We need to be as efficient as possible. When we create as many turnovers as we do defensively, we cannot equal the playing field by giving up the ball as much as we have in the first two games." Coach Bailey Said.
Â
Other scorers tonight were: Frisina with three points, Nick Scouten with two, Gavin Kent with two, Lucas Baker with two, Cayden McCray with two and Camryn Ricketts with a point.
Corry improves to 3-0 on the year and they will head out on the road on Friday to Clymer as they will play the Pirates. DeeJ Experience Plans on covering that game as we wait to hear back from the Clymer School District. JV Tips of at 6:00 PM with Varsity action to follow.Â
