CORRY, Pa. — The Corry Varsity Beavers dropped a non-region District 10 contest Tuesday evening at Columbus Field, falling to the Warren Dragons by a final score of 8-3.

Warren broke the game open early, scoring in the top of the second inning after Gabe Thibodeux singled down the right field line, followed by walks from Charlie Blum and Bradey Chase that each drove in runs to give the Dragons an early lead they would not surrender.

Corry’s pitching staff battled throughout the game. Wyatt Swan delivered a strong relief performance, pitching five innings while allowing five hits and three runs, two of them earned. Swan struck out eight and walked three. Bryce Chelton took the loss for Corry after allowing three runs on three hits in one inning of work.

Warren starter Broc Bryan was dominant on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six and one-third innings. He allowed five hits and three runs, none of which were earned, while walking two.

Offensively, Tucker Jackson led the Beavers at the plate, collecting three hits in four at-bats. Swan also contributed with two hits in three at-bats. Corry was clean defensively and did not commit an error in the field, with Carson Braswell leading the team with nine defensive chances.

Warren finished the game with nine hits. David Manning led the Dragons with three hits, while Bradey Chase drove in two runs. Bryan and Brady Shene also recorded multiple hits for Warren. The Dragons showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks in the game. Chase, Blum, and Tage Wyman each had two walks, while Thibodeux added two stolen bases as Warren totaled five steals.

After the game, Corry head coach Jake Cirigliano pointed to missed opportunities at the plate as a key factor. “Timely hits for Warren and 13 strikeouts for Corry was the game tonight,” Cirigliano said. “We need to be aggressive at the plate. When we see a pitch we can do damage with, we need to attack it. In baseball you get one pitch an at bat that is a good hittable pitch, and tonight we watched those pitches go by. Our defense made plays, but Warren had our number tonight. It’s early in the year and we are still 2-1, which is a good start. We are back at it tomorrow, turn the page and move forward.”

The Beavers will return to action Wednesday when they host the Eisenhower Knights at Columbus Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on the DeeJ Experience Sports Stream. www.deejexperience.com
