CORRY, Pa. — Corry’s varsity baseball team had their second straight home game in as many nights as they welcomed the Seneca Bobcats to Columbus Field on Wednesday night. The Beavers used a big early offensive surge and strong pitching to defeat Seneca 14-4 on Wednesday afternoon in a five-inning game.

Corry jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second. The Beavers then broke the game open with a five-run third inning to take control and cruise to the victory. Corry finished the game with 14 runs on 11 hits while holding Seneca to just one hit.

Several Corry players contributed to the offensive effort. Tucker Jackson and Wyatt Swan each hit inside the park home runs, while Kamdyn Moon had two hits and scored four runs. Jacob Anderson added two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs. Ian Shotts contributed two doubles as Corry consistently put the ball in play and pressured the Seneca defense.

Corry’s pitching staff also turned in a strong performance. Jeremiah Johnson earned the win on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings without allowing a hit. Jackson and Moon pitched in relief to finish the game as Corry pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts.

Seneca scored one run in the first inning and added three runs in the third but was unable to keep pace with Corry’s offense.

After the game, Corry head coach Jake Cirigliano said he was happy with the team’s improvement at the plate and overall approach. “Well, we won tonight. It was not pretty, but we got a nice win,” Cirigliano said. “I was very pleased that we put the ball in play, and at the high school level that’s what we need to do, put the ball in play. I was very pleased with our aggressive mindset at the plate. We are off to a good start, we need to keep it going. In our first game we struggled hitting the ball, tonight we improved in that area so good things are happening. This was a good team win.”

With the win, Corry improves to 2-0 in the early season and will host their third straight home game on Friday as they welcome the Dragons of Warren to Columbus Field. That game will be streamed live on the DeeJ Experience Sports Stream at www.deejexperience.com as well as YouTube and other platforms.
