CORRY, PA - The Corry Beavers varsity softball team hosted the Fairview Tigers on Tuesday in a critical mid-season region four game. The Beavers broke open a close game with a big middle inning surge to defeat Fairview 10-5.

Corry tallied 11 hits and capitalized on key opportunities in the third through fifth innings to pull away, according to the official scorecard. Fairview, which finished with nine hits, kept pace early but couldn’t contain Corry’s offense down the stretch.

With two outs at the bottom of the first, it was a double from Ellery Nornhold followed up by a grounder from Jenna Szklenski that gave a 1-0 lead to Fairview. Corry would answer back at the bottom of the second. A lead off walk from Allison Yetzer was followed by a shot from Regan Kemp that sailed over the left field fence giving the Beavers a 2-1 lead.

After a tight start, Corry’s lineup came alive behind a balanced attack. Multiple players contributed at the plate, including strong performances from the middle of the order that helped generate runs in bunches.
