Corry volleyball is proud to announce that the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has recognized junior, outside hitter, Grace Allen to the 2025 AVCA Phenom List. As a result of being named to the AVCA Phenom List, Grace will be invited to the 2025 AVCA Phenom College Prep Program which will be held on December 18-20, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. This will be the fourteenth year the AVCA will host the invitation only Phenom College Preparatory Program.
Since the start of the program, 80% of participating athletes end up on college rosters! Grace was recognized as All-Region and All-District in the 2023 and her sophomore season (2024) she repeated All-Region, All-District honors and added All-State recognition to her resume. In addition, Grace was selected as an alternate to the USA Volleyball - OVR All-Stars team this past summer. Last year, Grace led the Corry volleyball team with 361 kills, fourth on the team with 27 blocks, and had 107 digs. Head coach of the Corry Beavers volleyball program Kelly Goodsel had the following comment. “Grace is an explosive outside hitter receiving a lot of attention by our high school competition as well as college coaches. This is the second year in a row that the AVCA has recognized Grace on the Phenom List, and we are super proud of her hard work on and off the volleyball court.”
The Corry Area High School volleyball program is a member of PIAA District 10 and competes with 20+ high school teams in the AA Classification. Corry won Region 4, District 10, and finished 2nd in the state in 2024.
The AVCA mission is to advance the sport of volleyball with AVCA coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development. Their membership includes over 10,000 members made up of collegiate, professional, high school, club, and youth volleyball coaches primarily in the United States. We represent women's volleyball, men's volleyball, and beach volleyball coaches, and work to increase exposure and recognition for the sport of volleyball as a whole.
The requirements for having an athlete on the AVCA Phenom Watch List are the student athlete must be an underclassmen (2027, 2028, and 2029 grad years in the Fall of 2025) who has received some significant form of external recognition for their outstanding volleyball play such as, but not limited to: All-District, All-Region, All-State, PrepVolleyball Ranking List, JVA Watchlist, PrepDig Watchlist, USAV NTDP or HP, etc., AND the student-athlete’s high school head coach, club coach, or club director must be an active AVCA member.
